Request: portfolio review, working processes, general analysis of projects
Number of consultations: 2
Feedback:
For a long time now I feel that I urgently need communication from people in the design industry and a qualified look from the side at what I am doing, to understand where I am going. I had a consultation with Kate Shash, Graphic Designer and Art Director, as well as a Chapter Leader of Ladies, Wine & Design, Moscow, where I volunteered for half a year already. I want to share my feedback and what I have got from it.
First of all, I want to thank Kate for her time and resources. Secondly, our communication was very productive. I had several points to discuss: work direction (what projects do I have now and how to call them), portfolio review (to what direction do my current works belong and how to improve them, what should be taken away), questions about time management and working processes.
Kate asked me a lot of clarifying questions, so she can understand me as a specialist more and I looked at myself from the side and analysed myself as well. She considered most of my portfolio projects very thoroughly. It was very valuable because it is a usual thing that your eye becomes not as sharp as at the start and it's hard to keep the clarity and easiness of layouts.
You need a qualified look from the side. And besides the time management theme, Kate shared her working processes, how she sets up priorities, talked about pricing and how to count your rates. And of course, talking about psychological aspects, self-critique and self-devaluation are epic failures for me as always.
I want to thank Kate again for her professional and qualified approach. Kate is a person, who knows how to highlight mistakes and weak points but will show you your strengths and positive moments as well.
And above all, it's just very cosy, warm and safe with her. Kate, rays of goodness to you!
